The goal of writing and defending the professional masters thesis is to demonstrate independent and creative approach in the application of acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in the relevant field. Acquiring necessary experience and further developing students ability in order to implement certain professional activities within the process of solving practical problems from the economic or public sector. Students also describe the manner of realization of these activities in a standardized form, and analyze and present the achieved results of their independent work according to the established methodological procedure with the existing IT support.
By writing and defending master thesis, students should be competent to solve real problems from the production or public sector. First of all, competences include the development of critical thinking abilities, the ability to analyze problems, synthesize solutions, predict behavior of the chosen solution. They should be qualified to: apply knowledge in problem solving within a new or unfamiliar environment in wider or multidisciplinary areas within the educational and professional field of study, integrate knowledge, solve complex problems and use reasoning ability on the basis of available information that contains reflections on social and ethical responsibilities which are associated with the application of their knowledge and reasons, transfer knowledge and method of reaching the expert and the general public in a clear and disambiguous way and to be able to continue their studies in a way they choose independently.
Final work represents a project that solves specific practical problems in the economic or public sector, and that is accepted by the relevant economic organizations or public institutions in which it is implemented and with whom the Faculty of Technical Sciences has contracted cooperation. Students with the help of mentor teachers and the mentor in a business organization or public institution, independently write the final work which should include solving of a practical problem or task from the scope of work of a particular economic organization or public institution. Proposed solution of the problem is presented in the form of the final work – professional master paper.
Final work - professional master paper is written independently under the mentorship of the teacher and the mentor in the economic organization or the public institution within which it is implemented, who are responsible for directing and following the candidates work and for providing all the necessary assistance. As far as practical part of the work that represents its central part is concerned, the candidate realizes it independently in institutions or economic organizations that deal with the particular area, with whom the Faculty of Technical Sciences has contracted cooperation, and is also solving the specific practical problem from the scope of their activity. Master thesis is publicly defended in front of the defence commission that is composed of the representative of the economic organization or institution in which the work is carried out. Public defense of the final work involves active participation of the candidate, commission and all other participants in asking questions and discussing the topic of work and the proposed practical solution. The final work is done in accordance with the Annex to the Rules on the Final Master Thesis.
