1.Introduction to possible conversion of electricity through the power electronic devices that can be found in industrial applications. 2.Introduction to power electronic devices for the management and control of industrial plants with DC motors. 3.Introduction to the power electronic devices for the management and control of industrial plants with AC motors. 4. Introduction to power electronic devices that are used to power continuous feeding of electronic devces. 5.Introduction to power electronic devices that are used as the AC unit control systems for the automation of industrial plants.
1.Student will be able to choose the proper type of power converter according to its use, and to perform basic calculations about the inverter. 2.Student will be able to perform sizing, connection and commissioning of the power converter and its application as a part of the plant with DC motors. 3.Student will be able to perform sizing, connection and commissioning of the power converter and its application as a part of the plant with AC motors. 4.Student will be able to perform designing and dimensioning of spare parts supply sensitive industrial facilities. 5.Student will be able to perform proper selection, sizing and application of switching unit and to make control algorithms for industrial plants. 6.Student will be able to use the scientific literature, Internet and manufacturer's catalog data for the proper selection, design and dimensioning of the power converters as components of automated industrial plants.
Power electronic components in the industry. Rectifiers. Controlled rectifiers. Elementary calculations around a plant as part of a DC motor. Example industrial controlled rectifier: functional units, power connections, control terminals, software adapter, commissioning. Inverters. Drives. Basic calculations about the frequency converter as part of the drive with AC motors. Example of industrial inverters: functional units, power connections, control terminals, software converter, commissioning. The power supply. An example of the AC unit PLC automation systems for industrial facilities. Other special applications of power electronics devices: battery chargers, welding machines, high voltage applications.
The subject will be study through the presentation of theoretical principles in lectures, problem solving appropriate to the auditory exercises and the practical work in the laboratory with the aim of mastering the skills of application of power converters in the industry.
