Introducing undergraduate students to the basic principles of the design of microprocessor in power system. The student acquires knowledge in two areas: microcontrollers and digital control of electrical drives with a large number of examples.
Student after completing the theoretical part and lab work gets clear practical knowledge of microprocessors and digital control of electrical drives. The acquired knowledge can be used to solve practical engineering problems.
Numerical systems, the basic principles of microprocessors. Elementary computer - composition and performance. Bus, RAM, ROM, input-output unit (I / O), the other components. Internal architecture. Memory, registers, interrupts and priorities. 16-bit microcontroller 4011 (dsPIC family). Digital signal processors (DSP). Programmable logic controllers (PLC). Application possibilities of microprocesors in power and industry. Implementation of power converter circuits using microprocessors. The realization of a digital control law. Sensors, measuring the speed, position (encoder and resolver), voltage, current. Implementation of microprocessors in regulated dc drives. Implementation of microprocessors in voltage regulators (DC and AC voltage regulators). Implementation of microprocessors in regulated AC drive.
Theoretical lectures and through exercises (interactive and demonstrative type).
