Course is active from 01.01.2009..

Main course objective is to present the interaction between regional development and environment, since there is mutual influence between these two developments. These interdependences will be described and discussed by systematic approaches, presenting also risks of diverse models for regional development and preservation of environmental potentials. Environmental themes will be natural conditions, traffic, noise, sewage, waste etc. Likewise, positive and negative examples of regional development will be presented. The objectives of the program is designed to introduce students to the strategies of regional development issues in the region, strengths and weaknesses and the opportunities and risks.
Students will gain knowledge on regional development strategies in the sense of environment protection, as well as their mutual influence. They should be able to initiate regional development processes which enable environment protection. Students will be able to recognize the systemic content of such projects by analysing numerous influencing factors, and they will posses adequate knowledge to generate models on the bases of both SWOT-analyses and chances and risks analyses.
Introduction, definitions, legal frameworks of Serbia, EU and specific countries. Environmental themes like natural potentials, traffic, noise, sewage, waste, etc. Systematic approach to interdependent regional development and environment protection.The processes and methods of participation of citizens and influential groups in the planning and transformation of the region .
